Your Consultant: Daria Skibington-Roffel, CVA, DTM

Since 2006, Daria has assisted in the start-up of non-profit organizations, including writing bylaws, facilitating provincial incorporation, grant development, fundraising, program development, networking, advocacy, and developing effective volunteer programs. She has also facilitated the research, development and implementation of database solutions, non-profit management and volunteer program management.

Community Minded

Daria is passionate about volunteerism and currently serves as the Chair of Autism Calgary's Board of Directors and was instrumental in the development of programs and services for young adults on the autism spectrum which previously were not available in Southern Alberta.

Also, she was involved in the development of two programs that assist adults on the autism spectrum find gainful employment in technology: Meticulon and Spectrum Advantage.

​Information Technology Background

Daria developed a passion for computers and electronics at a very young age when home computers were just coming into the market and required knowledge of DOS command lines to operate them. She began programming in BASIC at the age of 9 and was helping her father test and repair electronics as early as 10 years old. Daria also began data entry at her parents business in 1986. 

In 2000, Daria began repairing computers and removing malware for friends and family, eventually doing so for small businesses. Between 2002 and 2009, Daria worked as a contracted IT consultant for a variety of clients in the Oil and Gas industry. 

She gained experience in many disciplines including: 

  • Data entry

  • Database procurement and implementation

  • Hardware troubleshooting and repair

  • Dispatch of technicians across Canada to franchise locations

  • Corporate user account management (Setup, maintenance, troubleshooting and disabling)

  • Livelink administration, including set up accounts/permissions, providing user training, writing technical manuals, testing and providing second level support

  • Coordination of teams of technicians as well as events such as office moves, server updates and outages
